Alain Voge – wine - grower – wine - Cornas Saint-Péray Saint-Joseph Côtes du Rhône

Biodynamics at the Domaine Alain Voge.
It all began in Austria in the 1920’s, with the thought and observations of Rudolf Steiner, an Austrian philosopher and scientist. Biodynamics stress the importance of the life of the soil, the relationship between the plant and the earth, the moon and the cosmos, seen as a whole. They take into account the rhythms and their importance in the life of all living beings. Steiner also gave a certain number of pieces of information towards making specific preparations for restoring the equilibrium of the soils, thus enabling them to stand on their own against diseases and parasites. The vintner’s labour then becomes a fundamental one of support, carried out in accordance with the “position” of the planets.
Respecting the rhythm of the vine and the earth induces the vintner to renew his approach to his work and become the craftsman of a fruitful harmony. In the Alain Voge estate, we decided 2 years ago, to take up the biodynamics principles, beginning with the plots of our Saint Péray vineyards. They seem the best suited to have the land express itself fully in a context of durable development.
